What Possessed Us To Open Wine:

We were working on plans for our road trip to New Orleans so we could attend the Bassmasters Classic. New Orleans is a long way from Colorado. David was going to have to be my captive audience for many miles, listening to everything I am thinking every minute. Just contemplating it made us open wine!

What Did The Label Want Us To Know?

Really, it’s Robert Mondavi. This bottle doesn’t need to convince me of anything! It does tell me it is part of their Private Selection. And it mentions blackberries, plums and spices with smooth oak nuances from barrel aging. That sounds about wonderful.

What’s So Great About It?

David thought slightly smoky and very full-bodied with a smooth finish that is very consistent. I also thought it was smooth and I would drink this everyday! Maybe I should move into the Mondavi Winery!

Fantasy This Wine Engendered:

I am a very famous wine maker and have a not so private collection so that I have an excuse to have a real private collection. It’s so private, only I know about it. I don’t even tell my friends because I am a wine hog and want all the private wine to myself.

On the long road trip to New Orleans, I break down and explain that I have this secret private selection of wine to David. I explain to him that he can’t have any, though.

Conversation This Wine Engendered:

Why does the dog like to type on the keyboard of my computer? Does he have something to say?

Shawshank Redemption is a GREAT movie and we own it on laserdisc.

Where is the most interesting and weird place to stay in New Orleans?
