What Possessed Us To Open Wine?

We decided to have Happy Hour at our house to force people to come talk to us. We picked Castle Rock wine because we live near Castle Rock, CO. Not that Castle Rock Winery has anything to do with that because they are in Napa Valley, which is a much superior place to be, I am thinking, if you are making wine. But sometimes when you pick a wine, it has to be for SOME reason.

What Did The Label Want Us To Know?

A. from Napa. They use words such as full-bodied, deep ruby colored, dark cherry, molasses, black cherry, ripe plum and spice. Also light oak. Let’s not forget light oak because I LOVE oak. They say it pairs well with beef, lamb, venison, pasta and most cheeses. I was mostly interested in the mention of lamb and cheese.

What’s So Great About It?

I detected slight smoke. David thought it was tart with full flavor, no aftertaste and consistent. Jan really liked it and is not much of a wine drinker.

Fantasy This Wine Engendered?

I live 20 minutes down the road from Castle Rock, CO. Suddenly it is transformed into the Napa Valley where I can go and visit the Castle Rock Winery without a plane trip. I could almost just walk!! Awesome!
