What Possessed Us To Open Wine?

Oldest friends in Colorado coming over. They deserve to try new wine. We got this wine at The Winejester in Denver. It was a blend that the owner highly recommended. And it was a REALLY good price. Under $15. Plus the wolf is pretty cute.

What Did The Label Want Us To Know?

Right up front it tells us what it is. Syrah, Mourvedre, and Viognier. Yesterday I was looking down an aisle of blends in a liquor store and I literally couldn’t find one that told me what the blend was. This makes me slightly crazy because I like to get excited about new (to me) and interesting grapes. It is a South African wine.

They use these words to describe it: spicy, aromatic and French oak matured. Cute story about the name. It “is a tribute to the pioneers who in the early days of the Cape erected a wolf trap at Boekenhoutskloof. To date, no wolf either real or mystical has been seen in the valley.” I’m just so happy they didn’t name it Boekenhoutskloof.

What’s So Great About It?

We liked the nice color and thought it was dry and smooth. A delightful mix.
