Romantic California Getaways

Romantic California Getaways in Southern California Wine Country

By Amanda Ocsinberg

Want to escape the heat and crowds of Los Angeles? Find out about the best Romantic Southwest Getaways. Great spots for a slow drift over the vineyards with local wine or champagne at hand and hidden places for those who want to have less company and more togetherness.

An hour and a half south of Los Angeles is the Temecula Valley. Thanks to the location and orientation of the valley, cool air from the pacific creates a climate perfect for lush vineyards.

Temecula Creek Inn When staying in town, you will want to check the Temecula Creek Inn. The prices are affordable and while maintaining a rustic feel, and the service is well above what is expected. This will give you a centralized location to explore the area at your leisure and devote the extra time to just relaxing together.

Along route 16, which runs south to San Diego, you will find Rancho California Road. On this one road there are more than a dozen vineyards and wineries! Each one has a distinct look and feel, with tours and amazing discounts on bottles to enjoy now or take home. You can stock up a year’s supply of wines for every type of occasion without having to spend forever finding the right vintages.

Flying Goat There’s the Santa Barbara Winery that’s been in business for over forty years. And when you’re done visiting, you’re within walking distance of the beach. For travelers on a budget try the Summerland Vineyard with tasty and affordable wines. Or, how about a Pinot Noir from Flying Goat Cellars? Ok, we just love the quirky name, but don’t let that fool you –the wine is good.
