Coppola Ivory Label Cabernet 2007
What possessed us to open wine?
It was Cabernet Day. I am not sure who thought up or instigated this holiday, but I am in favor of any festivity that requires that I taste wine! We gathered together to celebrate my favorite grape.
What possessed us to open THIS wine?
It was a grand day, a day that is bigger than reality. I was drawn to the Coppola label because that family seems bigger than reality, as well. Plus, I have tasted some of their other wines and yum.
What’s so great about it?
Everyone agreed it was smooth. Jessica thought it was a little too spicy for her. Melyssa also thought it was spicy at the finish. Kevin said lively on the palate and he thought it had a medium body. He thought it was more complex than a Malbec. (Kevin and David almost came to blows over that) David thought it was very good. Jan, our white wine drinker, said it was fabulous which is what I thought as well. We quickly finished 2 bottles.
What fantasy does this wine engender?
A man can suffer in childhood from polio, start making homemade movies at 10 years old. He can go on to tell incredible stories by writing, editing and filming, winning all kinds of Academy Awards. With all that, he also has free time, apparently, to start his own vineyard and make his own wine. No big deal.
Conversation this wine engendered?
The Schmidts will now abuse the Larsons
There are different varieties of Viagra? And one is called “professional”? What must a pill do to be labeled “Professional?”
Why can’t someone give Mary what she really wants: gold.
You could lose 2 pounds just watching The Expendables, and afterwards you will want to beat on people.
How God works in the lives of cheerleaders. (sounds like a soap opera)
